Find out moreDr Ann Dowker (University of Oxford) is undertaking a follow-up study on behalf of the ‘Numbers Count’ project. As part of this, she needs volunteer schools who have not taken part in ‘Numbers Count’ in order to provide a comparison or control group.
Participation will not require very active involvement (unless a school wishes), but would only involve a school giving permission for Ann and her colleagues to trace maths progress for an identified group of pupils - in totally anonymized form - through the Department for Education (DfE) pupil database. The focus is on pupils who are currently Year 6 or Year 7 (Year 7 and Year 8 from September 2016).
Parental permission would be required and parental information letters would be provided to schools. No school or pupil would ever be identified in any report. All schools prepared to be involved would be sent all reports as prepared, and would receive a book token for £20 as a small token of thanks.
If you wish to get more information, please email Marika Sigley who will then contact you to provide further information including the parental information and consent letters.
Thank you very much for your interest so far.
