Find out moreNow that the new school year is well underway, we wanted to give you a round-up from our Summer term training! During the Summer term, we delivered more than 20 ‘Delivering Catch Up®’ training courses (including online courses in the UK and overseas!), welcoming over 200 attendees to the Catch Up® Community. In addition to this, we have continued to offer our popular Catch Up® information session webinars!
Our trainers, once again, packed their maps and travelled across the UK to deliver the face-to-face training, with courses taking place in Birmingham, London, Nottingham, Durham, Bedfordshire, South Wales, Manchester, Yorkshire and Dumbarton! We were hosted in some of our wonderful Regional Training Centres, plus some schools arranged their own courses with us, and had everything ready for our trainers at their venues. We were also very happy to continue offering our online training courses, which ran for UK schools and those based overseas.
One of our Accredited Trainers, Lynne Startin, has delivered both Catch Up® Literacy and Catch Up® Numeracy courses last term across the UK. Lynne told us, “Even after all these years as a Catch Up® trainer, I am always delighted by the response of trainees to both interventions. Everyone is always so enthusiastic and on numerous occasions I hear the same comment, ‘I can’t wait to get back school and get started’. This is so gratifying to hear.”
Lynne explained that her training experiences are always as positive, with committed and passionate trainees on every course. However, she did share some rather amusing stories about life outside of the training room!
She told us, “One of the courses I delivered was being hosted in a hotel. It was a busy place, but it wasn’t until I heard quite a bit of fuss one lunchtime that I realised the Strictly Come Dancing Tour had stayed there the night before. I had missed the chance of breakfast with Anton and the others – so near but so far!”
Lynne also delivered training in a venue that can be a little noisy in the rain. She dutifully warned the trainees about the potential noise, but luckily, it didn’t rain! ‘Phew’, Lynne thought…but something else caught everyone’s attention. “What happened instead was that two flying creatures (they may as well have been dinosaurs!) landed on the roof and proceeded to walk across the full length of it! Time for a quick tea-break!” Lynne certainly had an interesting term!
Across all of our courses, the average trainee response to ‘How would you rate the training course overall?’ was 4.5 (with 1 being ‘poor’ and 5 being ‘excellent’). We really appreciate all the feedback we receive, and were over the moon with these fantastic comments this term:
‘One of the best I’ve attended’
‘It has made me very enthusiastic and excited to start delivering’
‘The course was insightful’
‘Lovely, relaxed atmosphere’
‘I feel confident to deliver the intervention’
‘Inspiring’
‘The sessions were great; I enjoyed the training very much’
There are still some spaces available on our Autumn term courses, both face-to-face and online.
