Find out moreTraditionally, for me, this is a time of year for renewal, as after spending over 30 years within a school setting, September is ingrained in me as the start of another year! However, as the reach of Catch Up® is global, I recognise this is not the same for all of you reading this. 2020/2021 has certainly been an interesting 12 months for all of us and has created some magic moments!
The team here have been amazing. They have worked tirelessly to respond to all requests to ensure that our charitable mission is regularly delivered, and that learners who are struggling with literacy or numeracy are supported. We regularly receive anecdotes of the difference that the Catch Up® interventions make. We love sharing these stories to spread the Catch Up® message, so I encourage you to get in touch with news of your achievements.
During the pandemic, we bravely commenced a research project (The ‘Catch Up® Early Years Project’), which will take place over three years. The project is supported by an external grant provided by ‘The Charity of Sir Richard Whittington (for which the Mercers’ Company is Corporate Trustee).’ However, with schools experiencing many difficulties, it was unclear as to how this would go. As you can appreciate, Year 1 of the project was a challenge for everyone involved, but much has been achieved and we are now starting on Year 2!
We have also seen a growth in Catch Up® trained deliverers returning to the resource area of the website, to ensure their knowledge is as up to date as possible. In response to this, we have been working hard in the background to move our Review and Refresh sessions to an online delivery. These will be available to book through the login area of the website. If you are unable to log in, please do contact us on community@catchup.org and one of the team will be able to sort things out for you.
I am also always open to receiving your thoughts as to how we could support you in your delivery of the interventions. If you have anything you would like to share, please do get in touch.
As we move ever closer to the end of 2021, I would like to wish you all a successful and maybe less challenging time.
With best wishes
Theresa
