Find out moreAs mentioned in our newsletter during 2022, Catch Up® has been pleased to be work with ‘What Works for Children’s Social Care’ (WWCSC) to assess the impact of Catch Up® Literacy in a home setting.
WWCSC funded this evaluation of the Catch Up® Literacy intervention being delivered in the home by foster carers/kinship carers, to support the reading outcomes of the children in their care. The intervention was offered to children in Years 5 and 6, in England.
The research team for this exciting Catch Up® Literacy project was made up of researchers from the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, and the Institute of Employment Studies.
Over 40 foster carers/kinship carers attended the Catch Up® Literacy online training course, and delivered the intervention!
We are very pleased to say that the final report has been published and is available to view via this link.
The summary of this report states that, ‘… Catch Up® Literacy is feasible to deliver by foster carers in the home. Carers reported increased confidence and skill in reading for the children in their care’.
We now hope to build on this work further and support more foster and kinship carers. If you would like more details please contact us at training@catchup.org
